Can I access and operate the
Security camera
From my iPhone and does it require a static IP. address on my modem
Hi @Davo1,
A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community and thank you for your question.
Yes, you can access the TP-Link Tapo C520WS 2K Outdoor Pan/Tilt Security Wi-Fi Camera through the Tapo app that can be downloaded from the App Store.
The camera connects to your home Wi-Fi network and uses TP-Link's cloud service to enable remote access via the Tapo app. This eliminates the need for a static IP address.
Check out the Tapo C520WS User Guide for more information. For more complex questions, I'd suggest reviewing the FAQs on TP-Link's website or contacting their Technical Support.
Let me know if there is anything else I can assist with.
Jacob
Do I have to subscribe to the Tapo cloud service to use the 520 camera ?
Hello @Davo1
The user guide states: "Local microSD Storage (Up to 512GB)† and Cloud Storage** – Save recorded videos to an installed microSD card (up to 512 GB)† or by using Tapo Care** cloud storage service." Below it the guide also states "*microSD card must be purchased separately. **Subscribe for cloud storage at https://www.tapo.com/tapocare. This means that the unit has the option of storing any recorded image locally. There would be no need to subscribe to the cloud service as the images are saved on the SD card.
However, just to be sure allow us to contact our supplier in regards to your query. As soon as we have more information, we'll get back to you.
Thank you for your patience.
Eric
Hi @Davo1,
You do not have to subscribe to the Tapo cloud services, and the camera can be used standalone with the SD card.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
