Cabot's Cabothane Clear looks white - How to fix?

Hi,

I used Cabot's cabothane clear paint on my deck. Some parts of it I might applied too much and it looks white. Just wondering is there a way to remedy this?

Thanks,

Parker

Re: Cabot's Cabothane Clear looks white - How to fix?

Hi @parker200500303,

The white marks when applying Cabothane are typically caused by applying too much in one coat or by moisture affecting the curing process. However, what's likely going to be more of an issue is that Cabothane is an interior product and is not suitable for exterior use. If it's been exposed to moist air overnight, that's likely why this has occurred.

At this stage, it might be worth leaving it on the timber and seeing if the white marks resolve themselves. The coating will probably deteriorate quite quickly when exposed to the elements, but time will tell. Once it does break down, it would be best to sand the deck to remove it and then look towards a more common deck coating, such as decking oil.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Mitchell
