Morning all, my first post as we finally been approved for a house with banks, geez really hard with this bloody royal commission lol
Anyway we get the house next month so plotting is in full swing.
My question is can you just simply enlarge, height wise for establish arch way/opening and door frames to become just a opening just by going up and framing it out? Possibly to roof height? Trying to make it more open feel and airy, want to keep the sides of walls we have plans for that lol as we not in we can't check roof for low bearing etc yet that is our first to do on our list 😊
@MayWelcome to the forum
First you will need to determine if it's load bearing
BTW, did you not get a structural Inspection report for the purchase? hth
No we didn't as it's rural and long way from biggest town and we're over 4hrs away so not close..
Congrats on the purchase @May. It's pretty common for people to do this to make older houses more open plan, so hopefully the walls aren't load bearing and you can do it. Will need to wait until you get in to check though...
