Nesting tea candle holders

Hex Tea Light Holder 2.jpg

I scored 30 of these square glass tea candle holders from Gumtree Classifieds at a good price and decided to make some decorative bases out of Northern Box hardwood using my CNC Router.

They are cut from 140mm x 140mm pieces of timber which is 25mm thick and the glass is 50mm square. I have carved out a square 50mm x 10mm deep for the glass to seat in. I made them in a hexagonal shape so that they could be nested together in multiples or used as a single entity.

I bevelled the edges both top and bottom, sanded to 240 grit then used 2 coats of Minwax Wipe On Poly urethane as the finish.
