Both rooms were mirror imaged to one another.

Wood filler

Sandpaper 240g Orbital

Tools

Tools used in both rooms:

Circular Saw

Vacuum

Brad Nailer

countersink bit

Cordless 18v Drill

Cordless 18v Impact Driver

tape measure

set square

Steps

Step 1

Step one was to measure and draw up the plans and work out how many sheets of MDF we required for the each room.

Step 2

Picked up our materials from our local Bunnings store.

Step 3

Started to cut the MDF to the measurements we had drawn up, so we had all the cut pieces required ready to assemble.

Step 4

Started to assemble in the garage the first bedroom used glue to glue up all the required sections. Used the air compressor with brad nailer to fix the shelving units to the backing and sides. With a set square to ensure all the levels are even. Putty all brad nails. Sanded after putty dried with 240g Orbital.

Step 5

Primed the shelving units and the bulk heads. Painted them in Dulux White paint once the primer was dried.

Step 6

Measured, cut and installed timber battens on the upright of the wall to timber studs, we used the french cleat method. Used 100mm wide onto the wall and 50mm onto the back of the bulk head. Then install the RGB LED lighting trip to the edge. We recessed the LED back 70mm from the end finished size off the units to give a hallow glow once everything was installed

Re: Kids bedroom makeover

Hi @Lmassih,

What an incredible transformation! The attention to detail and work you’ve put into creating these fun and functional spaces for your boys is impressive. From the custom shelving to the recessed LED lighting, it’s clear a lot of thought went into every step.

The final result looks amazing, and I’m sure the kids are absolutely thrilled with their new rooms. Great job, and many thanks for sharing!

Mitchell
