The closet currently only has a small area for hanging clothes. I I would like to keep the shelving next to the current hanging space, but the rest of the shelving I would like to turn into hanging space.
The easiest way I was thinking was just to cut out all the shelves where I dont want them with a jugsaw, and then either insert a free standing hanging rack in the space, or try to install a wall on the left to attach a clothes hanging pole.
I have very little experience with these kinds of things.
You can see in the photos how the shelves are set up. They seem to rest on a supporting beam running around the whole closet. I would be keeping the top shelve, just as it is above the hanging space already there.
Your help is greatly appreciated.
Hello @SheriBobbins
Thanks for sharing your question about your wardrobe. I suggest investigating your shelves carefully as you might be able to take it apart by removing the screws that are holding it together. I only suggest taking it apart carefully as you might be able to use the shelves in another location of your wardrobe.
To attach another hanging rod in the available space, I suggest using Sandleford 25 x 900mm Chrome Tube Rod. It can be cut down using a Trojan 300mm Heavy Duty Hack Saw. For the ends I recommend using the Sandleford 25mm Chrome Round Flange.
Now one side will be going into timber and the other side is probably going into plaster. For the plaster side, I suggest using the Ramset 6 x 38mm Universal Anchor. This will be strong enough to hold the flange in place on the plaster side.
My best advice is to double check the length you need for your hanging rod before you cut it down.
