How to strength Flexi Storage shoe rack?

IMG_8369.png

Hi,

I have installed a flexi storage wardrobe unit with the compatible mesh shoe racks.  I live the functionality of them but the racks keep falling off the runners.  Any suggestions on how to strengthen?

Thanks

Kathryn

Re: Shoe rack

Hello @kathrynw

Can I please request for a photo of how you have the shoe rack currently set up? Is it a pullout sliding unit, or does it just stay in one place? If it only stays in one place and does not pull out, I suggest using some white Crescent 100 x 2.5mm Natural Cable Ties to hold the shoe rack in place. But if it is the sliding type, we'll need to see it in order to assess its condition.

If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.

Re: Shoe rack

Thank you for the quick response.

They are sliding.  While the sliding mechanism works when pushing back in it tends to fall of the rails.  If held at the exact right angle it may work but seems to sit too loose

Re: Shoe rack

Hi @kathrynw,

I'm sorry but it doesn't appear that those images have come through. You can send them to workshop@bunnings.com.au if you continue to have issues uploading them.

I've reached out to Flexi Storage, and they haven't encountered that issue before. Once the rack is pushed in, there shouldn't be any way for it to fall off. I wonder whether the guides are installed upside down. Does that look like it would make a difference?

Re: Shoe rack

Hopefully those work.

I think they are installed correctly.

Re: Shoe rack

Hi @kathrynw,

Is that rear screw done up tightly? It might just be a shadow, but there appears to be a bit of a gap at the top of the runner.

The only way I can think that the rear of the shelf would drop out at the back of the runner is if the spacing between both sides increased at the back, allowing the shelf to drop in. Can you measure between the sides of your cabinet at the front and then at the back?

What would you say causes the difference between the shelf sitting on the runner in image two and falling in image three? Is there just too much room, and if pushed across to one side, it drops out of the runner on the other? The shelf really shouldn't have much room to move within the runners, as the size is governed by the cabinet.

Re: Shoe rack

There is about 3mm difference between the front and the back, (wider at the back)

I think there is just too much room - too much room at either side which allows it to drop off if pushed to the side

There is a bit of a gap at the top of the runner at the moment as I have tried to put some timber packing in to help bridge the gap.

Re: Shoe rack

That's interesting, @kathrynw. I presume the spacing of the side panels of the Flexi Storage cabinet would ensure that the drawer can't fall off. And it is a Flexi Storage cabinet, isn't it?

The Flexi Storage team would like to assist you with this issue and have asked if you could please send through your images and a description of the issue to them so they can take a look at it for you. They can be contacted on vrs.customerservice@visy.com.
