We have three cavity doors in our new house. One thing I don't like about them is the draughts and gaps around them to the door jambs. May I please request some suggestions how to seal these draughts. Pictures attached.
Hi @foxhound,
Thank you for your question about covering gaps around your cavity doors to reduce draughts.
On the latch side and the top of the door, your best option is to attach timbers such as this 42 x 18mm Pine FJ Primed DAR using brad nails. Having one on each side of the door gives a channel for the door to run in and a pocket for it to close against.
For the bottom of the door, it is not as easy as you don't want to attach something that will become a trip hazard. My suggestion is to use a draught stopper which can be moved and put in place when you have the door closed to reduce the draught under the door.
Let me know what you think and if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
