Hi. How do I go about installing an internal door through a wall?
The wall is not load bearing.
The wall is standard plasterboard with horizontal and vertical timber studs.
I cut a peep hole and can't see any wiring or piping (nor would I expect to see any where the door will go).
I'm thinking a normal swinging door might be easier than an internal sliding type.
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Chep. It's brilliant to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about installing a doorway in a partition wall.
Once you've determined where the door will be placed, you'll need to mark out the area. Allow enough space for the door jamb to be inserted around your door's perimeter. When cutting the area out a reciprocating saw will be the most effective tool for the job. Adjustment of the stud work will be required so there is a stud on either side of the opening and one directly above. These can be screwed into the existing frame. Once the frame is sorted, you can follow this guide on How to install a door jamb. I'll also include the video below. I'm sure you'll also find this guide on How to hang a door useful. All that's left is to install any trims around the door frame to finish and cover exposed plaster edges.
I've created and included some renders below to assist with your project.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
