How to fix crack in the wall?

Hello, champions,

I was painting the wall, and due to a little pressure from the roller, that hole emerged (pictures are attached). The sheet behind it is just like paper and not plaster.

Any idea how can I

Re: Crack in the wall

Hi @SyedJaffry,

I'm a bit concerned that your wall would get damaged like this under what is realistically very light pressure. I can't say I've come across a problem like this before, so some further investigation is going to be necessary.

Can you take a photo of inside the hole? You may need to gently hold the paper so we can see inside.

It looks like the hole is directly beneath a window. Is that correct?

Is there any evidence of water damage?

Allow me to tag @Dave-1, @Nailbag and @Jewelleryrescue to see what they think.

Once you've provided some further details, I will be happy to assist further.

Re: Crack in the wall

Good afternoon @SyedJaffry

Whoops.... My first thought is someone has done a cover and run repair... Pretty much glued over a piece of paper over an area that had holes in it?

One way to verify if its paper or plaster is to tap it with your knuckle gently, you will hear the tone change. or id be tempted to push a clothing pin into 3cm from the hole then work your way around the hole and outwards, You shouldnt need a lot of pressure as its plaster so it wont go anywhere but if its just paper....

Either you have muscles on muscles or something else has caused this.... Id tell everyone its your strength tho!

Re: How to fix crack in the wall?

Hi @SyedJaffry

I have to say I'm in the same camp as with @JacobZ in not being familiar with this type of issue. I'm leaning towards one of those patch and paint products similar to what @Dave-1 mentioned as given way. They are a cheap quick-fix for patching an area properly.

I would use a sharp blade to neatly cut shallow just outside that area and remove the loose sheet. Then let us know what you discover behind. Its highly likely you might just need to re-patch the area more effectively with a proper filling compound or a new piece of plasterboard.

Hi @SyedJaffry

I  hope I am  wrong  here  I have seen  termites eat all but the paint and leave a   flimsy egg shell of  paint work   Look for  at  your  timber in the walls  see if it is soft and  hollow too. Termites leave tunnels in the wood. little vertical holes.

I cross  my fingers for you re  no  termites.
