Fireplace feature wall

Hand made fireplace stack and feature wall.  Covered in VJ panels and painted. We added built in shelves to give it a look almost like a carpenter had installed high end built in book cases.

Materials

Bunnings Timber for our extended frame

Large screws

No Nails

Filler

2 x VJ Panels

Taubmans Paint

Black cabinet handles

Ceiling cornice

Cement for cornice

Drop Sheets

sand paper

Tools

Nail Gun

Nails

Jigsaw

Mitre saw

Paint Roller

Paint brushes

Spatula

Paint Stirrer

Paint Tray

Steps

Step 1

Build frame for extended fireplace

Attach Vj Panels with no nails and fix in place with nail gun allow to dry

Fill and sand nail gun spots

Cut out a hole at bottom for wires needed for fireplace.
Attach Cornice with required cement allow to dry
Undercoat and seal paint in white used for cornice and panels at least 2 coats on panels. Allow to dry between coats.
Roller and paint Using choice of colour I needed about 3 coats.

Then using white paint give 2-3 coats on cornice using an angled paint brush.

The process needs a lot of patience and a good project for those who are quite handy with DIY. Some parts of the project need 2 people.
