A wish to create an affordable faux fireplace entertainment unit was realised through upcycling a $20 dated, varnished pine fish tank stand bought from an op shop. All that were needed were time, elbow grease, affordable materials from Bunnings, leftover paint, and a willing hubby!
MDF boards
Pine boards
Trim
Hinges
Screws
Paint (leftover)
Wallpaper
Self-adhesive vinyl tiles
Drop saw
Hand saw
Mitre box
Electric drill/screwdriver
Clamps
Paint brush
Remove the hinged doors.
Sand down all surfaces, then wipe them clean
Using MDF and pine boards, build:
1. The fireplace alcove
2. Slim doors for storage spaces flanking the alcove
3. An open box between the base cabinet and the original fish tank cover/lid. This section will house some audio equipment. The original fish tank cover/lid simply sits over the box
4. A drop-down hinged door for the front of #4
Glue on trims
to the 3 new doors
Apply white brick textured wallpaper to the fireplace alcove. Then stick on self-adhesive marble look vinyl tiles to the base of the alcove.
Hello @MamaDuck
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us and thanks for sharing your faux fireplace entertainment cabinet project.
This cabinet-turned-faux fireplace is a brilliant and creative design solution! The elegant white finish gives it a classic and sophisticated look, seamlessly blending with the room's decor. The hidden entertainment cover is a clever way to maintain a clean and minimalist aesthetic while providing easy access to your media devices.
The arrangement of candles and greenery inside the faux fireplace adds a warm and inviting ambiance, creating the cozy feel of a traditional hearth without the need for a real fire. It's a stylish and functional piece that adds charm and character to the space.
Many thanks for sharing.
