We had an opening into the walk-in-robe, and lots of wall space to the side, so I thought it was the perfect place to add a bit of style with a barn door. I used fence panel timber, which although seemed very dry as it had been in my workshop for ages, still shrunk later on. It didn't matter for this particular door, and I personally love the uneven rustic-ness of it, but I would recommend fully-dressed dry timber if no gaps is important to you.
Fence Panels 150mm x 17mm
Bunnings hardware (barn door mechanism and handle)
Nail gun brads
Carbot Interior Stain in Walnut
Table saw
Mitre Saw
Nail Gun
Brush and Rag for the stain
How bare the room looked before.
Just a case of laying out my design and cutting the timber to size and assembling all with a nail gun. Quite quick and easy.
Hello @Poshrustic
Thank you very much for sharing your barn door project. It looks fantastic and the fence railing knots just add to the character of the door. The walnut stain goes very well with the timber paling.
Many thanks for sharing.
