D.I.Y. wooden clock using laser cutter

I made this wooden clock from plans I downloaded from the internet.
All the pieces are cut on my Co2 laser cutter, from 3ply from Bunnings
The body I had to cut by hand as it was too big for my laser bed.

It is made from 3ply Pine and Brass, the weight is about 5kg and
is made from plumbing parts and lead.
I used a Cedar stain for the body, and a clear coat on the rest of it.

I started it in September last year and worked on it when I could, mainly on Thursday.

It was a fun build and I am looking forward to the next one.

Re: Wooden Clock

Evening @Super_D

ENVIOUS! I have looked at these types of clocks for ages and keep putting the thoughts aside. I would like a laser cutter but the price is always a little too high  You have done a nice job! How close does it run to time? When you say plaumbing parts, are you suggesting we can get all the bits bar the laser cut ones from Bunnings?

As usual, your work is up there

Re: Wooden Clock

Super... Thanks Dave, The plumbing parts are the brass bits manly the weight and I have to still do a bit of fine tuning with the run time. My laser is just a K40 from ebay and is about $500, but I did some mods that cost about another $300 to $400, but it would be able be used to make this out of the box more or less.

Re: Wooden Clock

Hi @Super_D

That clock assembly is just amazing. That carbon laser comes in real handy when creating precision parts. Should you have an opportunity to post a short video, it would be awesome to see the clock assembly in action.

Thank you for sharing such a wonderful project.

See something interesting? Give it the thumbs up!
