I purchased an Estilo pull out sink mixer. The installation instructions were pretty simple and I had just installed another tap in the bathroom, same brand and instructions.
However, the sink mixer for the kitchen did not install so easily. I followed the instructions, but when it was connected and turned on, water was gushing out the base of the tap. I undid everything to check the connecting pipes that you are instructed to screw into the actual tap were screwed in highly. They were, but I still tried to tighten them even more. Water still gushed out. How do I know if the actual tap itself is faulty?
Cheers
Hello @Thomas78
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your Estilo sink mixer.
The inlet hoses of the mixer come with very thin O rings and if these are not lubricated properly, they can tear off and water will leak around the connection. But your observation was that it was leaking at the base. This immediately tells me that there is something wrong with the body assembly. It's possible that the bottom part of the tap is loose or was not tightened properly at the factory. I propose removing the tap one more time and checking that the bottom assembly of the mixer body is tight. Screw the body clockwise so that the tap becomes stiff but not overly tight.
But if after re-installing all the pipework and it still leaks, I suggest bringing the tap back to the store for an exchange or credit.
