Re: How to repair water-damaged Gyprock paper?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Getitdone4. It's fabulous to have you join us. Many thanks for your question about repairing a water-damaged plasterboard.

Can you please confirm for us that you have removed the water and resolved the issue that allowed it to enter the plasterboard in the first place?

I can see that you have what appears to be an electrical switch within this vicinity. I have concerns that this level of water within the plasterboard might have migrated towards it, and you'll need to have that assessed by an electrician. Water and electricity are never a good mix, so address this before moving forward.

Once the electrician gives you the all-clear, you'll need to do some discovery work to see whether the plasterboard is not compromised and in need of replacement. If water has entered the plaster, it might need to be cut out. If the water has been contained just under the paint and not the plaster, then you need to cut away the delaminated paint, sand the area, apply a skim coat of filler, prime, and, when dry, paint the area.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Mitchell
