Re: How to remove oil stain from floorboards?

Hi @achandra100,

Could you clarify whether your floorboards are timber or hybrid timber-look flooring? Either way, the oil has likely penetrated into the surface, and it may be difficult to fully extract it. If you haven’t already, try using a small amount of warm water mixed with dishwashing liquid. Apply the solution with a sponge, agitating the area gently, then blot up the excess liquid with a paper towel or cloth. This can help remove any oil from the surface. However, once oil has soaked into the timber, it’s usually absorbed into the pores, making it difficult to completely remove. Over time, the stain may dissipate and become less noticeable.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Another possible solution @achandra100  I have had some success with is placing a damp tea towel over the area and apply a steam iron on top for around 10-15sec. This can moisten the oil which is then soaked in to the tea towel. Be careful not to apply to much steam because if the board isn't hybrid as @MitchellMc suggested, then the MDF timer under the thin timber laminate could swell.
