How to paint a glass splashback?

I have a clear glass splash back that I want to paint the same colour as my kitchen cupboards.   Can I use the same paint (acrylic enamel) that I used to paint the cupboards with?  Any special treatment or advice gratefully accepted.

That's a fantastic idea of painting your splashback the same colour as your kitchen doors. Technically you can use Flood 500ml ESP Easy Surface Paint Preparation. Although this allows you to paint the surface of the glass, I'm not certain how it will look on the back surface of the glass.

Another major issue is attachment. Coloured or painted glass splashbacks go through a special process that either bonds or anchors the paint to the surface of the glass. This allows you to put neutral cure silicone on the back and it stays attached to the wall.

A painted surface however has no guarantee of a hold. Even if you were to put a lot of silicone on the back the paint will literally peel away from the glass. An alternative would be to put small angle brackets to hold the glass in place. 

One other issue is glass composition, kitchen splashbacks are made from tempered safety glass. Thus, when hit or ruptured it breaks into tiny fragments and prevents the formation of large shards that can be dangerous. 

However, I propose speaking to your local stores In-Store kitchen specialist as they might be able to find a splashback that is close to the colour you've put on your kitchen doors.
