Hi! I bought a second hand fisher Pakyel dishwasher but I’m struggling to connect the inlet lose to the tap. Am I not tightening it right? The tap installed is at a slight angle and it’s a bit challenging but I can’t seem to get it on right. Is the tap and the hose different sizes?
Hi @jessd6,
A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community and thank you for your question.
In your first few photos, it looks like the hose is the correct size for the tap, but you'll be able to feel it if it grabs the thread on the tap.
You can also measure the outside diameter of the thread on the tap and the internal diameter of the hose to confirm. These hoses usually have a 19mm internal diameter.
If they are not the same size, reducing bushes can be used to connect different-sized fittings, but I'd have to know the diameters of the tap and the hose to recommend a specific adaptor.
It looks like the thread in the hose may be worn down. The solution may be to replace the hose with a new inlet hose.
Let me know what you think and if you have further questions please don't hesitate to ask.

It is possible you are cross threading it. You shouldn't need plumbers tape. The rubber washer in the fitting should be enough. In your picture the fitting looks twisted. Make sure you hold the fitting square to the thread when starting it. It should be easy to get the first 2 to 3 turns and then tighten up to compress the rubber washer, may need a pair multigrips for last half turn. You may need to make your hole bigger to allow pipe to go straight on to fitting or flex the pipe to get it square on.
