How to connect circular rangehood outlet to rectangular exhaust duct?

Would love the community's thoughts on the best way to connect a circular range hood outlet to a rectangular exhaust duct. As you can see in the photo they are very close to each other so I imagine the first step would be to cut the duct back a bit.

Re: Connecting circular range hood outlet to rectangular exhaust duct

Hi @Namloc,

Thank you for your question and welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community.

Unfortunately, I'm not aware of a product that could be used to connect the two as a D.I.Y. solution.

I would suggest contacting a company in your area that specialises in rangehood and ducting installation to assist.

Allow me to tag some of our helpful members to see if they have any ideas, @Noyade, @TedBear, @Dave-1.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Re: Connecting circular range hood outlet to rectangular exhaust duct

Hi @Namloc,

My apologies, I found it strange that I couldn't find something designed for this purpose as it is somewhat common.

Upon further investigation, I've found this Deflecto 130 x 290mm Rectangular To Round Rangehood Adaptor which can be ordered through the Special Orders desk of your local Bunnings. Would these dimensions match up with the ducting you have installed?

If they did, as you have said, the ducting would need to be cut back to allow this adaptor to be installed and then attached to the rangehood with a suitably sized flexible duct.

You might like to check out the range from Pacific Air, Bunnings supplier for flexible ducts and their adaptors.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Re: Connecting circular range hood outlet to rectangular exhaust duct

Afternoon @Namloc

I think @JacobZ has nailed it in his second response  You will probarly need to do some adjustments but I would suggest to draw up a diagram of how things are currently sitting and then go into the special orders desk. They may have parts that are closest to the spacing for the flu and the circular top of the range hood.

Other then that I was going to either suggest a local fabricator of sheet metal or buying some Metal Mate 0.5 x 300 x 900mm Plain Aluminium Sheet - 300mm as it comes in various sizes and make a joining piece to the top of the hood. I would suggest to do away with the circular section. You could actually block of part of the hole with a flat piece of sheet metal.

Hi @Namloc,

Make sure to confirm that the dimensions are compatible before ordering anything. I'd hate for you to order something that wasn't compatible.

Let me know if you have any further questions.
