Hi ,
Can anyone tell me how to adjust / realign the the kitchen cupboard door in the photo ?
Thanks
Hello @LSJ
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your glass kitchen door.
The door appears to have a plastic or aluminium cover preventing you from accessing the locking screw of the corner piece. I suggest removing the door from the wall so that you can safely work on it on a flat surface. Place a towel on the flat surface and when your door is safely down on the table, look carefully at the assembly.
Can you remove the cover by sliding or lifting it? If it proves too difficult don't force it. Odds are it will be necessary to remove the other side so that you can slide the cover out of the way allowing you to tighten the locking screw.
Please note if your kitchen door is made of glass, please take extreme care as mishandling or hitting the any corner of the glass could make shatter and cause injury. Make sure to wear gloves and goggles when working on the door. If it proves too difficult to repair, I propose bringing it to an aluminium and glazing specialist for repairs.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Hi Eric,
Thanks for your detailed reply which worked a treat with door fixed(see photo)
Another door beside the one I mentioned is also loosened and won’t tighten .
(photo attached) think the door may have been adjusted before and the recess is stripped? I’ve tried tightening the screws in the other corners of the door. I’m using a Phillips screwdriver ?
Thanks again 😊
Are you able to loosen the screw, push the corner back into position and then tighten the screw @LSJ? It could indicate something has been stripped if it pulls out of place again.
Mitchell
Hi Mitchell, yes that is what is happening.
I can push glass jn and align and try to tighten, but it loosens again.
does the corner piece with the screws need to be replaced?
And is there a better screwdriver to use or is a Phillips ok? Is a very small recess for tve screwdriver
Thanks
When the bracket loosens @LSJ, do you find the screw you tightened has also backed out and loosened?
A Phillips head screwdriver is the correct tool.
That joint and particular screw is bearing the entire weight of the door. If the screw is not holding, it might be best to remove it and install a self-tapping screw instead. You'll need to select one shorter than the frame's thickness so it doesn't penetrate the front side. The current screw is trying to compress against the frame and lock it in position, whereas the self-tapper with drill into the frame. This would be a much more positive connection.
Mitchell
Hi Mitchell,
I think your idea is a good one .
however, the two screws aren’t moving at all now, so getting them out won’t be easy, especially as the doors are above the bench top and are supporting glass inserts.
I’m thinking maybe I should get someone to come and fix them . Would you or any of your workmates be interested? I’m in Brisbane CBD
Thanks
Hello @LSJ
I'm sorry we don't provide this type of service. However, I suggest posting your job request on Airtasker or Hipages. I suggest putting in as much detail as you can regarding your request so that you'll get a quick response.
