How to add stone bench edging to cover chips?

IMG_6999.jpeg

I have recently moved and the kitchen bench top has quite a few chips along the edge. Any suggestions as to how it could be made smoother. You can’t grind it back these days. Is there an edging that could be glued over the edge?

Re: bench edging

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @PSusan. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about repairing a benchtop.

When it comes to repairing a chipped kitchen benchtop, it's advisable to engage a professional who specialises in benchtop repairs. They will have the expertise to colour match and fill the chips, especially for materials like stone or manufacturer tops, where achieving a consistent finish is important. These professionals use specialist techniques and products to repair the chips, helping to restore the worktop to its original condition.

I'm not aware of any specific edging designed to cover a benchtop edge. A couple of options could be using aluminium or plastic angles.

As you've mentioned, it's important not to sand manufactured stone benchtops due to the risk of silicosis.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Re: bench edging

Hi @PSusan,

You can use a service such as HiPages or True Local to find someone specialising in stone benchtop repairs that operates in your area.

A Google search for stone benchtop repairers would also be handy.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Jacob
