I got this coffee machine as a gift many years ago. While I love the coffee, I’ve never loved the colour. So I thought, why not make it feel more like mine. Here’s what I did to get the look:
1. Remove the cover and sugar soap.
2. Lightly sand with a 320GRIT sponge suitable for plastic, wipe with a dry microfibre cloth.
3. Use cardboard or a drop cloth to protect your surfaces from overspray, tape to avoid getting paint on the underside of the cover.
4. Shake plastic primer spray for 3 mins, then lightly mist - not too heavy. Allow to dry.
5. Shake enamel paint spray for 3 mins, then lightly mist. Don’t worry if patchy, keep paint coats light. Repeat once dry for 2-3 coats. Allow to dry.
5. Shake clear coat spray for 3 mins, then lightly mist.
6. Allow to cure before reattaching to the machine.
Hi @NatalieA,
First, let me extend a warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community! It is wonderful you have decided to join and share your coffee machine makeover with us. Great projects like these sometimes find their way into our Top Ideas page, you might find yours there one day! This is such a fantastic way to personalise a gift to suit your home. Were you able to do this in one day? How long did the drying take?

Thanks Katie 😊 yes I did this on Sunday - it was a beautiful sunny day so I needed to get moving because that’s the only day that’s not raining until next weekend. The primer and sealer I left for an hour between coats, the enamel spray only takes 10 mins to dry - I gave it about 30 mins between coats. Not bad for a Sunday makeover 🙃
You've done a great job @NatalieA! Thank you for the drying tips, I am sure many others will find it helpful.
Looking forward to seeing what you do next 😊
