Can you use the Dulux Renovation Range on a previously stained kitchen bench?

So I have wooden kitchen bench which was previously stained with cabotts dark Coco.

I'm wanting to change it with Dulux renovations kitchen bench acrylic 2 pak, do I need to use the renovation range undercoat sealer over the stain or can I just use an oil based primer? It say the renovation range primer for plastic coating.  I can't find anything about using the acrylic 2 pak paint on previously stained timber

Re: dulux renovation range kitchen bench

Hi @dalesbenches,

Thank you for your post and welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

To achieve the best results, it's generally best to use the products that are specified by their manufacturer.

The Dulux Renovations Range calls for Dulux 1L Renovation Range Primer, so it is best to use this product.

Use a non-abrasive grease and oil-cutting cleaner such as sugar soap. Clean the surface at least twice with clean water and sugar soap each time. Clean until the cleaning water and sugar soap remain clean.

Once clean, apply a coat of primer, allow it to dry, then apply 2-3 coats of paint, allowing it to dry between coats.

You might like to have a read through Dulux Renovation Range for some further information on the product and How to paint like a professional for some guidance on the painting process.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Jacob

Re: dulux renovation range kitchen bench

Hi mate,

Appreciate your help, we had actually just decided to do exactly what you have just said.

I was more concerned tho if the renovation paint was specifically designed for painting theore plastic or vinal benches and not so much for timber benches.

Appreciated you mate and thanks again

Dale
