I bought the White Knight Renew range to paint my kitchen cabinets. I decided to add trim in MDF to turn the cabinets into shaker-style doors. I probably need to use a suitable primer on the MDF (not the Renew range primer). But unsure if I can then use the Renew range over the top of the primed MDF. Does anyone have any advice or experience with a similar situation?
Hello @Adele2024
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about using Dulux renovation on a primed MDF surface.
That is a very interesting question. Please allow us to double check with Dulux regarding the use of the renovation range on a primed MDF surface that is not from the renovation range. As soon as we have more information, we'll get back to you.
Thank you for your patience.
Eric
Hi @Adele2024,
Just to clarify, I believe my colleague might have misread your question, as you are using the White Knight range of laminate paints, not the Dulux Renovation range.
You'll need to use Taubmans 1L White 3 In 1 Interior And Exterior Primer Undercoat Sealer for the MDF trim and then White Knight 1L Renew Tile And Laminate Primer Paint for the laminate sections. Once primed, you can paint over all of it with the White Knight 1L White Gloss Renew Tile And Laminate Paint, which is compatible with both of those primers.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Mitchell
Hello @Adele2024
My apologies for misreading the paint product you used. Please follow Mitchell's recommendation regarding what paint to use on the MDF surface.
