Re: dying tree

Hi  @Cher54

Great work on trying to save your tree hope you/ we succeed

Where you dug the soil out and it is dry I might dig a little deeper past the roots and fill it with potting mix with water crystals. So the potting mix will get wet and will drain but holding good usable moisture levels without rot. The plant will send roots in as it needs.

I like using an old soft drink bottle here 1.25L with holes punched in it with the cap showing above ground for a quick deep water of the roots pop the cap off and add water. But I pre dug deeper and mixed in pearlite into the soil to for good drainage under the plant. I tend to over think some situations for younger plants,

Re: dying tree

Hi @Cher54,

Overall, your plant looks quite healthy. If you haven't fertilised for some time, it would be worth doing so. Also, you might like to add some compost around the plant for an additional boost.

When fertilised well, the amount of new growth should overcome the occasional leave eaten by an insect.

Re: dying tree

Put compost around it approx 4 weeks ago. Slow release fertiliser the best?

Re: dying tree

Hi @Cher54,

I do not see much compost in your image, and the soil looks rather unnourished. How much compost did you apply? I'd suggest a bag and a half of 25L compost mixed into the surface layer of soil or as deep as you can without disturbing the roots.

Slow-release fertiliser would be the way to go.
