I was gifted old hardwood timber and I needed some trellis, so consulted the brains trust of the family, ie 83yr old dad, he and I built these trellis garden pot holders. 3 in total, and impressed with the result.
Recycled hardwood slats
75x30 h3 treated pine 3m lengths
zenith treated pine screws 8 x 10 x 50mm

Involve brains trust.
Cut the timber to length. We also go Bunnings to cut the h3 pine to length, thank you Bunnings.
Painting the Timbers before assembling, is an easier option
Drill countersink holes, then screw.
Tada!
Hi @Grub80,
Fantastic work by you and your dad! What a great project to do together. You have really done a great job re-purposing those hardwood slats and creating something eye catching to hold your plants. I am loving the colour of paint you chose, are you able to share what it is called?
Well done!
Katie
Hi @Grub80
What a wonderfully built garden trellis, you can put in climbers or hang herb planters on the horizontal pieces. If you had enough timber pieces you could have turned the bottom part into a vegetable garden.
Thank you for sharing such a marvellous project.

Hi @KatieC , the colour is Rainforest, British paints exterior low sheen purchased at Bunnings
Now thats a brilliant idea! and it woulr really work with the base being heavy enough to stop it being blown over so easily!
I get strong winds and its going to filed away fro future use for sure!. Nice work!
