Hi all,
I want to put a mirror on the fence at the end of my deck - Is there a particular type of mirror to use if it is going to be outside?
Thanks,
Dan2
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Dan2. It's fantastic to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about mirrors suitable for exterior use.
You can use any mirror outside, but you should expect it to weather and stain over time. To ensure longevity, you need to seal around the mirror's edge to prevent water from migrating between the glass and the silvered backing. Run Selleys 310g Liquid Nails Mirror Metal And Glass Adhesive around the mirror's perimeter to seal the edge. You can then use the adhesive to glue the mirror to your fence.
We do sell a few purpose-made exterior mirrors, and they would be worth considering for your project.
Please let me know if you have questions.

Hello, I have a question about the outdoor mirrors, if you want to put and outdoor mirror on the balcony of a 3rd floor apartment would that be safe or might it cause any harm with the reflecting of the sun?
Hello @crissieoffice
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us.
Having the mirror high on a balcony unanchored could be dangerous as a gust of wind could topple it over and turn it into a falling hazard to the people below. If the mirror was properly anchored to the wall perhaps then it would be safe from falling. In regards to reflection, your mirror would act like a giant sun reflector. It would be aiming its sun beam towards unsuspecting apartment tenants or pedestrians below.
I was going to suggest covering it with cloth or scarf but that would add to the hazards. I propose installing your mirror inside the apartment near your door if you wish rather than risking an installation outside.
If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.
