I was hoping someone could help.
I’ve recently noticed these weird clear spots popping up on my snap dragon plant. They don’t seem like wholes, as I can see a very thin layer of leaf that is still there. Any help would be so so appreciated ☺️
Hi @gabbyp,
The clear spots you're seeing on your snapdragon plant could be caused by environmental stress or pest activity. One possibility is thrips—tiny insects that feed by sucking out the plant's juices, causing transparent or clear spots on the leaves. These spots are where the cells have been damaged, but the outer leaf layer remains intact, which is why the spots appear clear rather than like holes.
Another potential cause could be physical damage from factors like strong winds or water droplets acting as magnifying glasses under sunlight, which can cause minor burns on the leaf surface.
To confirm if pests like thrips are the issue, you can inspect the undersides of the leaves or gently shake the plant over a white sheet of paper to check for tiny insects. If pests are present, a general insecticide or a natural treatment like neem oil can help.
If it seems environmental, maintaining proper watering and ensuring the plant isn't exposed to harsh conditions could prevent further damage.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
