1.8m tall hedge on top of a 1.8m high retaining wall, so 3.6m altogether, will be building a 1m high platform to stand on. Any suggestion for a long pole hedge trimmer, battery is best ?

Ic your platform is for this retaing wall and hedge. You might need taller ladders than previously suggested. It isnt about ladder height as it is about ladder sability. bigger ladder has wider feet.
I use this ryobi for hedge trimming and it goes well and cuts modestly thick branches The head tilts so the blade is flush/flat to the ground so you can do a square cut hedge from lower down.
You will need to buy battery for it TRy to buy this unit battery included is cheaper.

The Ryobi battery pole hedge trimmer would be a great choice, and you might actually get away without the platform, though it could be a bit of a stretch.
