Need help with plant herbs and veggies

1.Hi, I'm new in gardening and still learning to grow veggies. We have this existing garden bed which have soil mix of sandy texture. I'm planning to grow herbs, tomatoes, cucumbers. But it's long enough not much wider. Can we grow in that space?

2. It have soil of sandy texture - can we plant veggies straight away or need to add compost or anything else?
