My raised garden bed

With some timber, colour bond edging and some old tin freshly painted I whipped up some raised garden beds.

Re: My Raised Garden Bed

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @crazycrisi and thanks for sharing your first project with us.

This looks fantastic and ties in nicely with your fencing. I'm sure this project will inspire many of our members.

What are you going to plant?

Re: My Raised Garden Bed

Thank you. Going to plant some winter veggies

Re: My Raised Garden Bed

It's great to have you join us @crazycrisi. Those look sensational, and I really like the design you've chosen!

I'd also be keen to hear what winter veggies you'll be planting in them. I'll be planting out winter vegetables for the first time this year and would love to hear some suggestions.

Many thanks for sharing your project, and I look forward to your next one.

Hey Mitchell,

im thinking broccoli, carrots, spinach, silver beet and beans

Re: My Raised Garden Bed

Good one @crazycrisi, we'll be keen to see your harvests. And I'm sure Workshop members will be particularly keen to see how you go with the carrots, as many seem to struggle with how to grow straight carrots.

Re: My raised garden bed

What did you use on the bottom? Do you plan to put soil straight into it?

Re: My raised garden bed

Hi @annieerbs,

Let me mention @crazycrisi, so they are alerted to your questions. You should find this step-by-step guide useful: How to fill a raised garden bed by @Noelle. Within the guide, @Noelle suggests using aggregate at the base to provide a drainage layer. You can also use weedmat or geofabric, which will allow water through but not soil or potting mix particles.

Re: My raised garden bed

I used weed mat then some garden rocks I had. I used mostly top soil, some compost and a bit of potting mix. I then I put mulch over the top
