My lotsa lemon tree is not fruiting or flowering

image.jpg

Hi,

I bought a lotsa lemon tree from Bunnings 3 months ago and it had 2 green fruits on it. Since then the tree hasn’t flowered. And the 2 green fruits still remain the same. It did put on more leaves during the first month. But since then nothing. And I haven’t changed pots either. It came in this bought when I bought it. Can I please get some pointers as to why it’s not growing or flowering.

cheers

Shelly

Re: My lotsa lemon tree is not fruiting or flowering

Hi @ShellyX,

Thanks for sharing your concerns about your Lotsa Lemon tree. Citrus trees typically flower in late Winter or Spring, with fruit developing over Summer and ripening by the end of the season. It’s not unusual for there to be little activity in flowering or growth during this time of year, particularly if the tree has been recently repotted or transplanted. The two green fruits you mentioned may still need more time to mature and ripen, as this can depend on factors like temperature, sunlight, and watering. It’s great to hear that your tree initially put on new leaves, as this indicates a healthy root system adjusting to its environment.

To encourage flowering and fruiting in the future, consider using a citrus-specific fertiliser to provide essential nutrients during the growing season. Ensure your tree gets plenty of direct sunlight—ideally six to eight hours a day—and keep the soil moist but not waterlogged. With the right care, you should see new growth and flowering in the coming seasons.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Mitchell
