Re: drought or disease?

Hi @philipmkeane,

I apologise for the delay in my reply.

Your Magnolia looks like it’s in quite an exposed location, which could be contributing to its struggle as it hasn’t had time to fully establish. How often are you watering it, and how much direct sunlight does it receive each day?

In summer, newly planted magnolias can be vulnerable to heat stress and dehydration. You might consider providing some temporary shade using shade cloth, especially during the hottest part of the day. Deep watering a few times a week would also help the roots establish and ensure the soil stays consistently moist but not waterlogged.

If you can let us know a bit more about the care you've been providing the plant that would help us identify any issues.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Mitchell

Re: drought or disease?

Hi Mitchell,

Yep spot on - it's in an exposed location with a good 4 hours of direct sun a day. I think a shade sheet would be a good idea.
