How to stop kikuyu grass coming from next door?

Hi I've just been reading your post regarding the invasive Kaikoura grass and the difference between having your gardens on the ground and in raised beds I'm going to post some photographs of my raised bed retaining wall with the Kaikoura grass coming in from next doors unkept garden and this is a new project for me and it will be an ongoing nightmare trying to keep this invasive weed out of my garden bed and I don't think there is anything else I can do except to continue to poison, and cut, and dig out this invasive Kikaya weed.

Re: kikuyu grass problems

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Optamistik. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about Kikuyu grass.

That looks like an annoying problem. You might see some relief by digging down at the fence line and installing root barrier. Alternatively, you might like to remove the mulch, lay weed matting over the top of the bed, cut holes in it for the plants and then re-lay the mulch. The grass won't be able to grow through the matting, but it will likely still find ways around it. However, that will force it to come up in only certain locations, making it easier to apply poison.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Mitchell
