The Bunnings Workshop community can help with your home improvement projects.
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @MegBrunn. It's wonderfulto have you join us, and many thanks for your question about weed removal.
It looks like you might be dealing with Tradescantia fluminensis, commonly known as Trad or wandering trad. This weed is notoriously difficult to remove from buffalo lawns because even small fragments left behind after hand weeding can quickly regenerate.
You can try hand weeding, but it requires a lot of time and patience to ensure you don’t leave any parts behind, as even the smallest pieces can regrow. Alternatively, you can use a herbicide to kill the Trad. A Zero weeding wand or a small paintbrush allows you to apply the herbicide directly to the weed, minimizing the risk of damaging your lawn. Just be careful not to get any herbicide on the surrounding grass, as it can kill that, too.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
