Hi all,
I live in VIC.My peach tree looks a bit odd.
We did have some warm days here. I water it once in 2 days.
Is this normal for a peach tree?
Am I missing something? If so what do I need to do ?
Hi @srik42,
It’s important to check your soil moisture to ensure your peach tree is getting the right amount of water. Stick your finger about 10cm into the soil 24 hours after watering. If the soil feels dry at that depth, you may need to increase your watering frequency to every day or make sure the watering every second day is thorough. A good practice is to soak the soil deeply for about 20 minutes every three days rather than watering lightly every day. This encourages deeper root growth and helps the tree access water more effectively.
However, if the soil still feels wet 10cm down after 24 hours, it’s a sign you’re overwatering. Waterlogged roots can show symptoms similar to underwatering, such as wilting or yellowing leaves. The key is to let the soil start to dry out between waterings without becoming bone dry.
Using your finger as a guide is a simple and effective way to manage watering. Water when the soil feels dry, and hold off when it’s still wet.
Please let me know iff you have any questions.
