How to remove weeds?

Dear Expert

I have been using weed killer Round up for many years and recently I realized that this weed is infesting my garden and I have stayed in a rent property for a while and every two years I used to move to a different property (Western Sydney) ,,,,,I haven't seen it before

Thx

Re: Weed infestation my home garden and I don't remember I have seen it before

Hi @zillah,

Thank you for your question.

I use Pl@ntNet identify to help me identify unknown plants. If you check your photos with this tool, it believes this is Spotted Spurge (Euphorbia maculata) and I am fairly certain it is correct

Brisbane City Council has provided some information on the weed here - Spotted spurge.

Spot spraying with a glyphosate-based herbicide such as Roundup should do the trick, just ensure you wear a mask, appropriate clothing and eye protection and follow the instructions on the packaging closely.

The other option, which is a bit more work but is better for your garden as a whole, is to manually remove and dispose of the weeds. You can use a stand-up weeding tool like this Cyclone Extract Weeder to make the job easier on your back.

Let me know what you think and if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Re: Weed infestation my home garden and I don't remember I have seen it before

Hi @zillah,

Unfortunately, with difficult weeds, the battle is sometimes never-ending.

Applying Roundup once a month is about right and it will kill the plants that you've applied it to.

If you find more is popping up soon after application, then it may be an entirely new plant that you'll need to spray as well.

Persistence is the main thing. Keep at it and I'm sure you'll have success.
