How to find plug for drip tube?

Hi,

I would like to buy a plug that stop the water for this drip tub.

The measurement of the hole is around 4 - 5 mm. I bought the below product, but it does'nt work. I can't put it in the hole.

Could you advise which product I need to buy to stop the water for the tub?

Thanks.

Re: How to find plug for drip tube?

Hello @Tamdaolam

I propose attaching a 10mm flexible clear plastic tube over your steel tube. You can then use the irrigation plug to seal your steel tube.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Re: How to find plug for drip tube?

Hi Eric,

Could you please advise which diameter of the tube that I need to buy?

My black tube has a hole is around 4- 5 mm and the plug that I bought is 4mm. To cover over the black tube, I may need the 6mm clear tube. Will the 6mm one work?

Thanks.

Re: How to find plug for drip tube?

Hi @Tamdaolam,

Can I ask if you are looking to cap this tube so it can be reused in future? Or are you looking to remove it altogether?

I ask because if you are going to remove it altogether, you are better off removing the riser from the poly pipe that is running below the ground and then using a Pope 4mm Sealing Plug and Punch Spanner Kit to repair the hole in the tube below the ground.

If this is not an option, we'll need to know the external diameter of your poly pipe to recommend which clear tubing can slip over your poly pipe. I'd say it's likely the 6mm tube, but I can't be 100% certain without the measurement.

Let me know what you think.

Re: How to find plug for drip tube?

Hi Jacob,

I am looking to cap this tube so it can be reused in future. Currently there is no plant in that area, but I will plant a tree there in the future.

Thanks.

Re: How to find plug for drip tube?

Hi @Tamdaolam,

It is still likely easier to cap it under the ground and reinstate the above-ground tube when the time comes.

Let me know what you think.

Re: How to find plug for drip tube?

Hi Jacob,

I guess I can do it.  However I am just worried by the time I want to reinstate the tube, I will forget where the old hole that I plug it is. I guess I can put a flat or some mark there to find it in the future.

Thanks.

Re: How to find plug for drip tube?

Hi @Tamdaolam,

The reason I'd suggest this method over another is because it was designed for this exact purpose. You'll just have to confirm the underground line is the same size as the above-ground line.

You could put a stake like this Jack Garden Stake to mark the location of the plug.

Let me know what you think.

Hi Jacob,

It makes sense. I will give it a try. Thanks.
