Hello all.
I am looking for guidance on extending my existing block work wall by 7.7m. See photo below. I will submit a building control request with drawings. I understand the planning requirements. What dimensions do the pier and wall footings need to be (depth width)? Do they need rebar steel reinforcing?
I will include these dimensions into my own drawings to my local council for approval.
Hello @chrisdolan
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your brick garden wall.
In this particular situation, I suggest engaging the services of a draftsperson or engineer. They will be familiar with the rules and regulations of the local council concerning fence building. They will be able to calculate the pier and depth of the wall footings based on the materials you'll be using which in turn affects the amount of rebar you'll be needing for the fence. Your plan will need to be officially signed off by the draftsperson or engineer as it is a large structure. If built incorrectly could cause the wall to lean or fail.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
