How to build planters for a garden bed?

Hello all, its my first time posting here. I'm in need of some assistance, I've recently laid a garden bed down and I'm looking to add some planters to house some Pots for the flowers,  I would very much like to have them stonelike in appearance to match the fence colour

Re: Help with planters for a garden bed

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Craig2023. It's brilliant to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about planters.

Could you let us know a bit more about what you'd like to achieve? Are you interested in creating your own planters from scratch and rendering them with cement for a stone-like look? Or are you looking for ready-made planters that fit your vision?

If you're open to ready-made options, we have the Northcote Pottery 60cm White Terrazzo Look Precinct Lite Troughs available in white and black. These have a stone-like finish and could complement your garden bed beautifully. These Northcote Pottery 95cm Black Linea Troughs would also look wonderful.

Alternatively, if you're considering a DIY approach, feel free to share more details about your plan—perhaps a sketch might help us offer tailored suggestions.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Mitchell

Re: Help with planters for a garden bed

The Northcote Pottery 95cm Black Linea Troughs are pretty much what I see in my head but the price is a bit of out of my range at the moment, I've have 3 planter frames at 100cm x 50cm x 30cm iv slapped together but stuck on the final look, I could go fence palings sanded smooth or bits from a pallet as my budget is kinda small with Christmas around the corner

Your reply was much appreciated

Re: Help with planters for a garden bed

Hello @Craig2023

Thanks for sharing your question about building your own planter frames. You could try to mimic the Northcote look by covering the outside of your planter with 90 x 22mm Decking H3 Treated Pine L/M. You don't even have to cover the entire area you just need to do the front and the sides. The only reason I suggest it is because the pine is treated and can be used outside in the open. Any other timber would start going grey and rot. Should you have extra cash left after buying the pine you can then paint it to complete the look.

If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.

Eric
