How much Bondcrete Cement Additive would need to add to a 20kg bag of Mortar?

G'day, I want to cement a stone border along a concrete path.  I did some using only Morar. The stones do not stick very well.  I want the rocks to stay in place even if a child stands on them.  Any other suggestions that would help, please?stones.jpg

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, @Perry123! It's fantastic to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about using BondCrete to secure your stone border.

Typically Bondall 1L BondCrete Cement Additive is sufficient for 20kg of mortar or cement. You would mix the BondCrete with water, following the instructions on the bottle, before incorporating it into your mortar mix. This will help improve adhesion and bonding strength, ensuring your stones stay in place more securely than with mortar alone.

To ensure the stones stick well, particularly if there’s a chance they’ll have weight applied (like a child standing on them), I recommend laying down a thicker bed of mortar—about 50mm should do the trick. Push each stone firmly into the mortar so that it’s well embedded. Ideally, the mortar should come up around the stone slightly, as this will allow the mix to grip and hold the stones in place as it cures.

Additionally, you could consider applying BondCrete directly to the stones as a bonding agent before placing them in the mortar. This will provide an extra layer of adhesion between the stone and the mix.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

As a matter of interest.  If I need advice on another project.  Where can I go to obtain the help.
