How long does it take a smaller lunch-box variety of watermelon to produce mature fruit?
Hi @RebeccaH1,
Similar to your question about pumpkins, it comes down to soil conditions, consistency of watering, pollination and overall health of the plant.
Assuming all things go to plan from planting to harvest should be around 70–80 days, depending on the specific variety and growing conditions.
Check out How To Plant, Grow And Harvest Watermelon for guidance on caring for your watermelons.
Let me know if you have any further questions.
Jacob
As Jacob has said you can grow them to harvest in as little as 10-12 weeks and early Summer is a good time to plant so if you’re going to do it - do it soon. They need a lot of space and loads of nutrients. Not that I have any experience- I don’t- but I’m also thinking of experimenting with these so have been researching!
