How can I stop my Pittospurm from shriveling up and dying. The leaves all went brown and fell off

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Neddy1943. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about your Pittospurm.
It appears that you have a relatively decent infestation of scale on the plant. I suggest you pick up some Yates 750ml Ready To Use Scale Gun Insect Pest Killer and spray the plant thoroughly, including the underside of any foliage that is left. You need to re-apply weekly until the outbreak is under control.
How long ago did all the foliage fall off? If it's been some time, sadly, the plant might be too far gone to save.
