Hello lovely community!
I’d love some help with advice on leveling soil for our nature strip please.
There is an area of turf that is lower than the rest of the turf (there was a tree there many years ago). The area is about 1m
x 2m.
I’ve had a go at this twice already- digging out the old turf (only this 1m x 2m section), leveling the soil, then laying new turf.
I didn’t think I put enough soil under it maybe 
Shall I put some top soil on this area? I read somewhere to maybe put 1cm on the area now, then wait (maybe a month?) then put another 2cm on top.
Is this a good idea? If so, brand or type of top soil? And how long in between layers?
Other details that I thought might be relevant is that it’s sir Walter turf, we’re from Brisbane, and the nature strip is pretty exposed to the sun.

You've made a solid start with your previous efforts, and the idea of gradually adding soil is a good approach. You can use either topsoil or sand for this. Both will help raise the level without suffocating the existing Sir Walter turf, which is known for being quite hardy, especially in sunny, exposed areas like yours in Brisbane.
Applying 1 cm of topsoil now, then waiting around a month before adding another layer, is an excellent strategy. This gradual method gives the grass time to grow through the new soil, reducing the risk of it becoming smothered. Just make sure not to cover the grass blades completely in one go, as that could hinder growth.
When choosing a topsoil, look for a lawn-specific blend with good organic matter content to encourage healthy root growth. Consider the Scotts Lawn Builder 25L Organic Lawn Soil Topdress & Underlay as it’s designed for top-dressing lawns. Ensure to water well after each application to help the soil settle and encourage the turf to thrive.
