A simple and fun DIY hanging herb garden that uses only 5 materials. This hanging herb garden can be made to suit more or less pots and you could even add more tiers if required.
Materials
190 x 19mm Treated Pine - 1.8m
6 x Terracotta Pots
Cotton Sash Cord (or any rope about 5-6mm)
4 x Wire Rope Grips
Cabotts Clear Satin Exterior Spray to protect from the elements
Tools
Drop Saw (can use hand saw)
Cordless Drill
Orbital Sander

Steps
Step 1
Firstly I used a drop saw (you could use a hand saw) to cut the 1.8m Pine into two lengths of 70cm. You could customise this length to suit the amount of pots you wish to use.
Step 2
Next I measured and marked out the centre of each pot position. I thenused the hole saw attachment to drill the holes for the pots to sit in. Make sure you choose the right size hole saw depending on the size of your terracotta pots!
Step 3
Next I drilled a 6mm hole in each corner (where the rope will go through) before using the orbital sander to give it all a quick sand.
Step 4
After sanding it back I sprayed each piece of timber with the Cabbots Clear Satin Exterior Spray. This process was so quick and easy to do with the spray can and meant there was no paintbrushes to clean up!
Step 5
Once it was dry it was time to assemble. I threaded the rope through the holes (see image below) and with the help of someone to hold the top tier in place, I used the wire rope grips to secure the top tier in place.
Step 6
Once it was all assembled, I hung it on our front porch and then spent a bit of time adjusting the rope to make sure each tier was level. Then it was time to plant the herbs and watch them grow!
