Gardenia leafs and buds are going down

Hi,

I recently purchased a gardenia from Bunnings, and it was healthy when I bought it. However, over time, its leaves have started to droop, and the buds are also wilting. Some of the leaves have small

Re: Gardenia leafs and buds are going down

Hi @bazz007,

A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community and thank you for your question.

Overall, your gardenia looks healthy, and I don't think there is any cause for concern.

The drooping leaves are likely because your gardenia is thirsty, needs nutrients or needs more light.

Make sure you are watering your gardenia deeply at least once a week. Check the soil is no longer damp before watering again as overwatering can be just as bad as underwatering.

You can give it a quick boost with some Seasol. This is a plant conditioner that will stimulate growth and enhance your plant's health.

You should also ensure your gardenia is getting enough light. Place it, where it gets bright morning light but is shielded from the intense afternoon sun.

The spots on the leaf don't look like a big issue. My guess is some chemical residue, or mineral deposits from water have gotten on the leaf and caused it to burn in small spots. It is worth monitoring to see if it spreads. If it does over the next week or so, please upload some images so we can assist further, but I doubt it will.

Have a look at How To Grow Gardenias for some further guidance.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Jacob
