Fire pit and walkway retreat

IMG_6437(Edited).jpg

This is an outdoor project on a large unused area of our back yard. The area was leveled using a hired Dingo, which also had a post hole attachment for the fence and walkway posts. All the work was done by myself with the exception of the paving, which was done by my nephew. The work took several weeks and is still not complete, with some privacy screens yet to be erected around the fire pit, and more garden to be planted. The majority of the tools used on this project were from the Ryobi One+ range.

I'm just an amateur with absolutely no building experience, so I'm really happy with the way this turned out.
Some stats on the project to date:
74 Coach screws
73 Pine poles
21 Split pine poles
162 Pine pole brackets

972 Wood screws

620 kg of rapid set cement.

I hope you enjoy the pictures.

Re: Fire pit and walkway retreat

Hi @KatieC,

Thanks so much for your comments, that's very kind of you to say!

As for advice:

  • Draw it all up first, to scale if you can.
  • Absolutely measure twice, cut once.
  • If using pine poles, try and hand pick them. The variation in pole size can be quite dramatic!
  • I order at least one extra of almost everything. Mistakes happen, and it can save you downtime with an unexpected trip to the hardware store.

Thank you!
