Bucket’s of coleus. Normally for a water well expect to pay $12 each? Hence ten is $120.
Bucket’s are about $0.99c and so are the saucer’s at Bunnings.
a light to show where to drill the drainage hole.
drill slowly, otherwise the plastic will crack. Some plastic fly screen from Bunnings to keep mosquitoes out. They will breed in the water here, from eggs to mosquitoes is about 12days.
if a larger hole is drilled, frogs will be croaking. With this water well, couldn’t workout where the croaking was coming from, until I spotted this frog. Brown tree frog.
cut the filler at an angle.
Some microfibre cloth as the wick.
Some extra holes. This drill is narrow then goes wide, so I don’t drill through the bottom of the pot.
cutting the filler tube hole. Also a hole in the side of the saucer.
Potting mix, the plants and coleus will be happy. During winter, primula like this, and stocks. I’ll find a picture of branching stocks to paste in.
This was meant to be the last picture.
What a neat project, @Jamespeter100! I love the idea of using buckets and saucers to create your own self-watering pots. If your coleus are anything to go by, the pots certainly look like they work a treat.
Many thanks for sharing your project, and I look forward to seeing what you tackle next.
