Hi,
I have a chain mesh fence that I want to cover with an evergreen fragrant climber for some privacy. The part I want to cover gets plenty of sun. I was looking at Jasminum Sambac, but it is very hard to find and may not survive Melbourne’s winter. Any suggestion what I could use?
Thanks,
Afreen
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @afreen. It's fabulous that you've joined us, and many thanks for your question on climber selection.
Jasmine sambac is ideally suited to tropical and temperate climates but does well in most areas of Australia. Some other suggestions would be Wisteria sinensis or chinensis, Banksia rose, Orange trumpet creeper and Star jasmine. All these will tolerate frost, but it would be best to cover them whilst they establish if several nights of frost are forecast.
Let me mention @Adam_W to see if he has any other suggestions.
